Djurgården - A walk in the King's Park

This was just a gorgeous day exploring the King's old hunting island. The island is central tourist area, with most of the famous museums and the amusement park Gröna Lund.

You can enter the island through the King's Gate as well, which has been turned into an iconic landmark and painted a vivid blue as a symbol of the island's history.

The island was filled with gorgeous nature and some sculptures along the waterfront. There was even a cute coffee stand to get en varam kopp te eller kaffe!

I even took a stop into the Viking Museum! It was very informative. Apparently Vikings are from Sweden, Norway, and Denmark and the 'Viking Period' as they called it was from about 700 C.E. to 1200 C.E. and consisted of mainly conquest and trading of the Vikings with surrounding countries.

The best part of the museum was by far the ride at the end! It had very small world vibes from Disneyland - you sat in this twirl-a-world amusement park ride seat and you were taken along this track on the ground around twists and turns to see different miniature dioramas and landscapes created to tell a story of a Viking. It was hilarious and dramatic and the music and story plot were just so entertaining.

Below is the last scene of the banquet hall where the victorious Vikings are celebrating their newfound and hard won riches. In the center front is a bowl filled with all of their coins and treasure. There are some drunkards on the edges, and the land owner and his wife and daughter sit at the main table. All of the displays were in forced perspective and it was honestly quite well done.

But overall there seems to be a lot more to explore on Djurgården, I will definitely be returning to see the island!
