Kajaking by City Hall

My flatmate, Denny, is part of a club which provides access to two kayaks and a canoe. It's a local thing, just for folks living right in the city. For a small fee per month he gets a key. The key unlocks a steel gate-door, which is under the bustling streets of Stockholm, right off of the canal on the south side of Gamla Stan. The door is right on a bike path, with no pedestrian lanes, so we needed to put up orange safety cones to warn people this door was impeding their bike path.

Despite the initially sketchy entrance, we got out onto the water and man was it
B-E-A-UTIFUL
The sun was shining and it wasn't too cold. We kayaked out along the southern edge of Kungsholmen.
We saw a bunch of people out running, but not a ton of other folks out on the water (At least by my Seattle Standards for a sunny day in Autumn)
The floating net on the water is a Paddle Court, which is a sport kind of between tennis and racquet ball. It's exploded in Sweden and is very trendy...
We passed a ton of cafes, and there was a lovely running path that I noted for later exploration that went right along the water. (As it turns out that running path is a perfect 4 miles round trip from my apartment in Gamla Stan!)
And we passed City Hall which looked regal and stunning! Some of the pictures below are from my run through City Hall a day or so later.
